Several of our beloved Mzansi celebrities have come in numbers on Instagram to congratulate UFC fighter Dricus Du Plessis after he flew the South African flag high in Canada this past weekend.

Dricus Du Plessis made history as the first South African UFC champion. The South African champion snatched the UFC middleweight title from America’s Sean Strickland at the Scotiabank Arena on Saturday, 20 January. According to ABC, the fight’s final score was reportedly a split decision (48-47, 47-48, 48-47) for Du Plessis.
Taking to his Instagram, Du Plessis posted a photo of himself, dining and drinking a cold beer in Toronto, Canada following his victory. He also dedicated an appreciation post to his South African fans for all their support upon his victory.

“History has been made🇿🇦. This is Africa; we fear nothing and certainly no one!! Thank you, South Africa, it’s an honor representing our beautiful nation,” he captioned the photo.
Several South African celebrities have since commented in the comment section, congratulating Du Plessis following his historic UFC victory.
